A small tire puncture caused by a nail or similar object can be fixed as long as it's no bigger than a quarter of an inch and is not on the sidewall of the tire. Multiple punctures are still fixable if they are at least 16 inches apart. A worn out tire, a tire that has sustained serious damage or cuts will require to be removed and a new tire added.
There are some short-term fixes available that are good to get you back on the road if you’re in a hurry but absolutely should not be considered for the long term.
Patch or plugs
A plug cannot offer a permanent seal and a patch will not be able to cover the puncture area for a long time.
Emergency inflators or sealants
You can use these fixes to get your car to the nearest garage but they cannot keep your car on the road for long. Sealants can freeze in the cold weather and will fail at fixing anything that is bigger than a small hole or small leak.
